2010 CAST Awards Announcement

I’m very pleased to announce the results of the inaugural CAST Awards. If you’ll pardon the pun, I “cast” a fairly wide net among my cinephile friends and am pleased with the level of participation. I received 31 completed ballots from film lovers in the Greater Toronto Area. Here are the CAST Top 25 voted on from a predetermined list of just over 100 films which had the most preliminary support. Voters ranked up to 25 films on their ballot from top to bottom, with first choices receiving 25 points, second choices 24, etc. The Points column lists the total score for each film, and the Mentions column indicates the number of ballots it appeared on.

  1. Jay says:

This is a great list and you can bet that I will be adding all of them to my Zip List. I have to give Marwencol another viewing. I saw a screener and it didn’t do much for me. It’s popping up on a lot of top 10 lists now and I feel like I definitely missed something.

Is NY Export: Opus Jazz available on DVD yet? I have see that too.

Nicely done James. Let’s do this again next year!

  2. Jay, Factory 25 (http://www.factorytwentyfive.com/) put out NY Export: Opus Jazz on DVD a little while ago. It’s worthy of a purchase, but if Zip doesn’t have it, I’d lend you my copy. And yes, definitely give Marwencol another go.

I’m preparing a different list (or more accurately, lists) with some films which didn’t make the CAST final ballot, so watch for that too.
