Capturing Reality Toronto Premiere

I’ll be posting a full review soon, but I just wanted to alert you that Capturing Reality: The Art of Documentary, Pepita Ferrari’s insightful doc about docs is screening for free this weekend at the National Film Board Cinérobothèque in Montréal and next week at the National Film Board Mediathèque (150 John Street) here in Toronto. Here are a few more details:

Montréal Cinérobothèque

Friday June 5th and Saturday June 6th at 7:00pm — FREE

June 5: A dis­cus­sion with dir­ector Pepita Ferrari, along with Michel Brault, Denys Desjardins, Lina B. Moreco and Serge Giguère, will follow the screenings.

June 6: A dis­cus­sion with dir­ector Pepita Ferrari, along with Alanis Obomsawin, Malcolm Clarke and Samir Mallal, will follow the screenings.

Sunday June 7th at 7:00pm — FREE

Screening will follow a full day of activ­ities, including work­shops on film­making, as part of the NFB’s 70th anniversary Open House.

Toronto Mediathèque

Tuesday June 9 at 7:00pm — FREE

Screening fol­lowed by a Q&A with the film’s dir­ector, Pepita Ferrari, pro­ducer Michelle van Beusekom and two of Capturing Reality’s inter­view sub­jects: Jennifer Baichwal (dir­ector, Act of God) and Velcrow Ripper (dir­ector, Fierce Light: When Spirit Meets Action). Moderated by exec­utive pro­ducer Silva Basmajian.

Wednesday, June 10 at 7 PM — FREE

Screening fol­lowed by two intimate dis­cus­sions: Why People Talk to Cameras and Collaboration in Documentary. Special guests include film­maker Pepita Ferrari, pro­ducer Michelle van Beusekom and film­makers Velcrow Ripper and Manfred Becker.
